The original desire to build a Mahajanwadi in Kalyan was that of Late Shri. Morarji Girdhar Vithalani (who built Shri Muralidhar Temple near Tilak Chowk in Kalyan before 1924 AD). Similarly, he also made a firm decision to build a Mahajanwadi but since God’s will was different, he reached Shriji’s feet in 1924 AD. Before that, he had two desires (1) to build a caste community hall in Kalyan (2) to get Shrinathji’s flag installed. So, to fulfill both these wishes, he told his wife Shyambai, so in order to fulfill both the wishes of her husband, Maa. Shyambai made a firm determination, collected paisa paisa from her limited income from rent and started saving for Mahajanwadi by herself by living very simply.

Gradually, when some amount was collected, she told the respected people of the village as well as our Father Shri Govindji Morarji from time to time about building Mahajanwadi, but since he felt that he would not be able to devote time for the above work due to his busy work, one day, this illiterate but determined elder sister took me (I must have been around 10 to 12 years old at that time) along with me to Shri Maganlal Sodha’s cloth shop. It was around 5.00 pm then. He requested Shri Maganbhai Sodha to call all the dignitaries from the village at the same time and in a short time, obeying the order of the former, he gathered Shri Chhotalal Kariya, Shri Ratilal Kariya, Shri Hirabhai Kariya, Shri Ranchhod Bhanji, Shri Ranchhod Bhai Tanna and expressed his firm resolve to build a Mahajanwadi in front of them. The former expressed his desire and said, “I want to die after seeing a Mahajanwadi in my lifetime. I cannot bear the thought that the money that I have collected with great difficulty. Even if it is used to build a community hall, it will be used after my death. Therefore, I want the answer of yes or no right now in the presence of everyone whether you are preparing to build a community hall immediately or not.”
After seeing such a strong determination, the village elders who were in front of the old man at that time, supported the old man’s determination and assured the old man that ‘we will start the work of building the Mahajanwadi as soon as possible.’ And Shambai Lohana Mahajanwadi work started. Then, after that work was completed, around 1958, the hoisting of the flag of Shrinathji and the Shrimad Bhagwat Saptaha were organized in the Mahajanwadi.
Thus, the dream of our beloved Shree. Dadashri Morarji Girdhar was fulfilled by our beloved Grandma Shree. Shrishyambai ..
